Party Girl! (On a Budget!)

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving and a successful Black Friday!
With Black Friday comes the start of the holiday season and with the start of the holiday season comes holiday parties!
Who doesn't love all the food, mingling, and pretty outfits a holiday party?
To make your decision of what to wear a little easier, I put together a collage of some of my favorite party pieces.
And because I know you probably spent way too much money today(it's totally okay...no judgement here), everything on this list is UNDER $100!

What will you be wearing this holiday season?

Spotlight On: Joie [+Help Philippine Typhoon Victims]

I've been meaning to write a post about Joie, one of my new favorite brands, for awhile now, but just haven't gotten around to it.
However I received an email today about a great opportunity to score 20% off your shoe purchase by doing a little good!

Basically, the deal is if you bring a pair of old gently worn shoes to Joie boutique, you'll receive 20% off your shoe purchase!
By donating your shoes, you are helping victims of the Philippines typhoon, who desperately need whatever they can get.

I know you have those shoes in the back of your closet that you never wear anymore (we all do!)...so why not trade them in for 20% off a new pair!
[and maybe get the AMAZING pair of cobalt heels below??]

Click here, to check out a blog post on Joie's website for more information!

So now a little more about the brand: Joie (pronounced juh-wa) is a contemporary brand based out of LA with boutiques located in New York City and Los Angeles as well as products in big department stores like Bloomingdale's.

Over the summer I purchased a Gilt voucher for $150 worth of store credit after falling in love with the brand.
The Joie boutique in SoHo has a great selection and the sales women there are really sweet!
I bought two sweaters and they have become two of my favorite tops to wear.
They are unbelievable soft and great quality for the price!

If you are into simple, chic pieces - then this is the store for you!

L'OREAL Haircare

I'm a huge fan of drugstore haircare products.
You don't have to buy a $48 shampoo and conditioner to get those luscious locks you're dreaming of.

Recently I came across L'Oreal's haircare line and fell in love!
I bought the green 'Power Moisture' shampoo & conditioner, and within one use, my hair felt dramatically softer.

To give you a little profile of my hair: it's on the longer side of a medium length, I have a decent amount of split-ends (which I love to pick...shhh!), and gets dry with excessive use of heat products.

My usual shampoo/conditioner is the Herbal Essence Hello Hydration, which is constantly voted best shampoo and conditioner in all the magazines year after year.  I usually alternate between the Herbal Essence and whatever is new or on sale.

I haven't found another shampoo & conditioner that I've loved...until now!
Like I mentioned before, I used the green 'Power Moisture' shampoo/conditioner and couldn't be happier with the results.
Today I purchased the 'Smooth Intence' (salmon colored) shampoo and conditioner and can't wait to hopefully fall just as in love.  So I can't rave about this product, but if you check out this post by The Preppy Student, you can read her review!

L'OREAL Haircare

Drugstore.com is currently having a great deal that lasts until Friday!!!
Everything in their haircare department is 20% off!
It's fate telling you to try this product!

Have you ever tried L'Oreal haircare products?
What's your favorite shampoo/conditioner duo?

Sunday Snapshot [11.10.13]

Happy Sunday!

This weekend I went on a little road trip to Virginia for a college visit with my best friend.
Although it was a six hour drive, having her there made the time fly by!
We spent hours catching up, singing along to our favorite songs, and snacking.

I spent today 'recooping' and getting ready for school tomorrow.
Unfortunately my English teacher gave us a paper to write over the four-day weekend.
So I'll most likely be doing that tonight.  Wahh.  Do you have any remedies for senioritis?

Happy birthday Lilly!

Look at those legs.  Like can I be her?

So maybe I kind of need this?

Fashion PR Confidential

{source}

As I mentioned in my last post, last month I attended Fashion PR Confidential in New York City.
I can't even explain how much I learned within two days.

So I thought I would write a little recap of my weekend for those who are interested in attending a future workshop.

To start out, I decided to sign up for this class after taking a few classes at FIT in public relations and marketing.
As a high school senior, I'm desperately trying to figure out what I want to study in college. I thought that attending this class and talking to others who work in public relations would be helpful in figuring out if PR is something I would like to study and peruse as a career.

I was extremely nervous for about the first hour.  However after meeting everyone there, those nerves completely vanished.  Everyone was really friendly!

The first day we learned the basics of PR including what a press kit consists of and how to write a pitch.  Throughout the day we worked in small groups creating plans for our 'client'.
There were also incredible guest speakers: Julia Rubin from Teen Vogue and Jinna Yang of Grease and Glamour.  They both were hilarious and gave really great advice and tips!

The next day we individually wrote pitches to editors and received feedback on how we could improve them.
Unfortunately I had a meeting with my college advisor that afternoon so I had to leave early.
But when I got home, I checked twitter (#fashionprcon) to see everything I missed!

Okay so if that didn't sell you on going, did I mention that there was a delicious lunch & yummy snacks?  And we got a fabulous gift bag filled with goodies!

It was an incredible experience to learn from two individuals, Danika Daly and Crosby Noricks, who have so much knowledge about the industry.

For anyone considering attending, I highly recommend it!
I promise that you won't regret it!  I learned so much and had an amazing time meeting people from different places.

And in case you're wondering what I wore...

Sunday Snapshot [11.3.13]

Guess who finally finished all their college applications?
Yes - this girl right here!  Last night I submitted my last application!!
I keep reading that sentence over and over again because I just can't believe it.
I stayed up until 5:30am Wednesday night finishing all my apps with November 1st deadlines.
I don't know how, but I did!  The only explanation I can think of is mind over matter!

Last weekend I attended Fashion PR Confidential (I'll have a post up about it this week!) and had an incredible time! Communications/Public Relations is what I'm thinking about studying in college so this was a great experience to learn more about it!

November just really snuck up on me.  I can't believe October is already over!  It was without a doubt, probably the busiest month of my life.  Between college visits, college applications, school work, and other little events...I don't know how I got through it.

But I'm really excited for November.
I have a three day week this week due to teacher conventions so I'm definitely grateful for that!
I'm going to visit another college this weekend with my best friend, which should be a lot of fun!

Then I have two more weeks of school to get through before Thanksgiving break!  How crazy is that?  I'm looking forward to yummy food and of course crazy Black Friday shopping!

Then it's basically December!
But now I'm getting way ahead of myself...

Here's a little list of things I've seen and found within the past few weeks!

PurseBlog posted this great article this week about the whole Barney's situation.  I spent about a half hour reading the comments regarding incidents readers had in similar situations.  It's so interesting to hear other's experiences in situations where they were treated poorly based on how they look and dress!

- I got an email from this random online boutique last week and actually fell in love with the jewelry section!  They have great statement necklaces that look like they could be from J.Crew....yet they are just a fraction of the price!

- In our little gift bags at Fashion PR Con we were there was a nail polish from Pretty Please.  I'm officially obsessed and will be gifting all my friends these polishes for the holidays!

Okay can we please address & celebrate the red holiday cups at Starbucks now?  And of course I had to insta a picture.  It's like a rule.
- Speaking of holidays, someone tweeted this picture yesterday with this link...already marked my calendar as busy basically every night.
