Sunday Snapshot [12.29.13]

I literally just remembered it was Sunday and figured I had to write a 'Sunday Snapshot' post since I haven't updated on here in awhile!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.  I definitely did!
I've really been enjoying my winter break by relaxing, netflixing, and seeing friends and family that I don't often see!  Although it has been going by way too fast!
Can you believe this is the last weekend of 2013?
To say this year went by fast would be an understatement.  I'm looking forward to New Year's Eve as I spend it with my family friends from pre-school every year.

Here are just a few pictures from my week off!

What are your NYE plans?

Pura Vida

A while ago, I came across these bracelets and immediately fell in love with the brand.  I always appreciate a brand with a great back story and that is exactly what Pura Vida has.

Here's a little bit of their story:
Two friends went on a college graduation trip to Costa Rica and met two men selling bracelets on the streets.  Basically the two friends loved the bracelets asked them to make hundreds of bracelets that they could take back to the United States and from there, the brand Pura Vida was born.

What I really love is what the brand itself represents.  The name, Pura Vida translates to 'pure life'.  It symbolizes "enjoying life slowly, celebrating good fortune and not taking anything for granted."

The selection of bracelets on the website is so overwhelming!  There is literally a bracelet for everyone, from bright neon colors to simple black and gold.
There is also a section of bracelets made specifically for different charities such as 'Save the Dolphins', 'Breast Cancer Awareness', and 'Give2TheTroops'.

I decided to gift some of these bracelets to friends & family this Christmas and had no trouble finding a different bracelet for each one.
I even bought one for myself!  This one benefits Hurricane Sandy victims, a cause close to home.  It's really fun to layer with other bracelets!

What is even greater about this brand is that every purchase helps in providing full-time jobs for local artisans in Costa Rica.
It's great to know that the product you are purchasing helps others! #guiltfreeshopping

Sunday Snapshot [12.15.2013]

Hi!
It's been a little while since I've blogged on here.
But I'm really hoping that with winter break next week, I'll be able to create a schedule to stick to!

In the meantime, I'll quickly share a little about what I've been up to and some really great links!

So I don't think I've said anything about this here yet…but I was accepted into two of the colleges I applied to!  Although they weren't my first choice, it's great to know that I'm at least going somewhere next year!  This week I hear back from a college that's up on my list so my fingers are crossed!

This Billy on the Street from Funny or Die with Amy Poehler making New Yorkers sing Christmas carols is actually the funniest thing I've seen in a long time!  I literally couldn't stop laughing out loud.

Really love this article about friendships from The College Prepster.  It really makes me feel so much better about those lost friendships at such a weird point in my life.

Speaking of The College Prepster, Carly wrote an amazing Prep Talk today about focusing on the good.  Again, it couldn't have come at a better time.
Obsessed with this quote now: "Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow." - Hellen Keller

I turned 18 on Friday!  I finally hit adulthood!  And no, I don't feel like an adult at all.
It's weird to think that I'm legal!

I'm really trying to enjoy senior year as much as possible.  It's crazy how quickly this year is going by.  Christmas is next week already!  Like what?

I'm really excited for the Christmas and the chance to just breathe for a few days.

I hope you all have a wonderful Monday!
When you are struggling to get through your Monday tomorrow…just think about how close Christmas is!

Party Girl! (On a Budget!)

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving and a successful Black Friday!
With Black Friday comes the start of the holiday season and with the start of the holiday season comes holiday parties!
Who doesn't love all the food, mingling, and pretty outfits a holiday party?
To make your decision of what to wear a little easier, I put together a collage of some of my favorite party pieces.
And because I know you probably spent way too much money today(it's totally okay...no judgement here), everything on this list is UNDER $100!

Party Girl! (On a Budget!)

What will you be wearing this holiday season?

Spotlight On: Joie [+Help Philippine Typhoon Victims]

I've been meaning to write a post about Joie, one of my new favorite brands, for awhile now, but just haven't gotten around to it.
However I received an email today about a great opportunity to score 20% off your shoe purchase by doing a little good!

Basically, the deal is if you bring a pair of old gently worn shoes to Joie boutique, you'll receive 20% off your shoe purchase!
By donating your shoes, you are helping victims of the Philippines typhoon, who desperately need whatever they can get.

I know you have those shoes in the back of your closet that you never wear anymore (we all do!)...so why not trade them in for 20% off a new pair!
[and maybe get the AMAZING pair of cobalt heels below??]

Click here, to check out a blog post on Joie's website for more information!

So now a little more about the brand: Joie (pronounced juh-wa) is a contemporary brand based out of LA with boutiques located in New York City and Los Angeles as well as products in big department stores like Bloomingdale's.

Over the summer I purchased a Gilt voucher for $150 worth of store credit after falling in love with the brand.
The Joie boutique in SoHo has a great selection and the sales women there are really sweet!
I bought two sweaters and they have become two of my favorite tops to wear.
They are unbelievable soft and great quality for the price!

If you are into simple, chic pieces - then this is the store for you!

L'OREAL Haircare

I'm a huge fan of drugstore haircare products.
You don't have to buy a $48 shampoo and conditioner to get those luscious locks you're dreaming of.

Recently I came across L'Oreal's haircare line and fell in love!
I bought the green 'Power Moisture' shampoo & conditioner, and within one use, my hair felt dramatically softer.

To give you a little profile of my hair: it's on the longer side of a medium length, I have a decent amount of split-ends (which I love to pick...shhh!), and gets dry with excessive use of heat products.

My usual shampoo/conditioner is the Herbal Essence Hello Hydration, which is constantly voted best shampoo and conditioner in all the magazines year after year.  I usually alternate between the Herbal Essence and whatever is new or on sale.

I haven't found another shampoo & conditioner that I've loved...until now!
Like I mentioned before, I used the green 'Power Moisture' shampoo/conditioner and couldn't be happier with the results.
Today I purchased the 'Smooth Intence' (salmon colored) shampoo and conditioner and can't wait to hopefully fall just as in love.  So I can't rave about this product, but if you check out this post by The Preppy Student, you can read her review!

L'OREAL Haircare

Drugstore.com is currently having a great deal that lasts until Friday!!!
Everything in their haircare department is 20% off!
It's fate telling you to try this product!

Have you ever tried L'Oreal haircare products?
What's your favorite shampoo/conditioner duo?

Sunday Snapshot [11.10.13]

Happy Sunday!

This weekend I went on a little road trip to Virginia for a college visit with my best friend.
Although it was a six hour drive, having her there made the time fly by!
We spent hours catching up, singing along to our favorite songs, and snacking.

I spent today 'recooping' and getting ready for school tomorrow.
Unfortunately my English teacher gave us a paper to write over the four-day weekend.
So I'll most likely be doing that tonight.  Wahh.  Do you have any remedies for senioritis?

Picturesque James Madison campus

Happy birthday Lilly!

Look at those legs.  Like can I be her?

So maybe I kind of need this?
