Three Outfits for Winter Activities

I have completely mixed feelings about the winter.  I always say it's my favorite season, however after awhile, all I can think about is how nice it would be if it were summer.
This week, New Jersey is experiencing extremely low temperatures (below zero with the windchill!).  It's supposed to warm up over the weekend, but then go back down!

But there are some great things about the Winter season: the holidays, seasonal drinks, and festive decorations.

Three Outfits for Winter Activities

[Click the picture above to shop the products!]

One of my favorite things to do is meet friends and family for coffee, especially now with all the seasonal drinks out!  I really love how this striped Forever 21 sweater looks with an all black outfit and think it would be perfect for meeting with the girls.

Next, ice skating is something that I only usually do with my friends around Christmas time.  We have an indoor ice skating rink near our town, so we can go any time of the year.  But there is just something more fun about going during the holiday time.  For this occasion, I would wear a flannel with these cable-knit leggings and a cozy scarf to keep warm!

Lastly, there is nothing more magical than New York City at Christmas time.  It's my favorite time of year to see the sights and go shopping.  However, sometimes it can be miserable walking around.  I love this Ted Baker jacket, it's both functional and fashionable.  And the touch of maroon in with the gloves and scarf add the perfect amount of color.

What are your favorite winter activities?

Gossip Girl: Blair

Since the season 6 premiere of Gossip Girl is on tonight, I thought I would share my all time favorite Blair looks from past seasons.  I've always loved Blair's style.  It's preppy and classic yet trendy.  She can basically wear anything and has the best headband collection I've ever seen.  Queen B always looks polished and put together.  If I could have anyone on tv's closet, it would definitely be her!

Possibly my favorite Blair outfit ever, her dress at the White Party was just absolutely perfect!

I can't tell you how much Blair's outfits made me want to go to a preparatory school on the Upper East side.  Literally every one of her school outfits were perfect.

I love, love, love Blair's party outfit that she wore to crash Jenny's Upper East Side party.  The pearls and the sparkle equal perfection.

Obsessed with the coat in this outfit.  She always has the best coats. And bags. And shoes.

This outfit is just so what Blair would wear in Paris. I love how she is always dressed for the occasion!

Who's style on Gossip Girl is your favorite?
Make sure you watch tonight at 9 on the CW!

Back to School: First Day Outfit

Picking out the first day of school outfit is always stressful.  You want to come back to school looking great, and be noticed for all the right reasons.  It's hard picking out an outfit that looks polished, appropriate, put-togehter - but not like you tried too hard.  Here are some ideas of what I've been looking at for first day outfits.

I really love these lace shorts.  This outfit looks so effortlessly put together with a simple tank.

These shorts are beyond adorable!  If I can find a similar pair, I think they could make a really cute outfit!

I love the knitwear in this outfit!  I feels slightly more fall (which I cannot wait for!) with the sweater.

This outfit is really casual but denim shorts with a nice white blouse and sandals could look really cute!

I really love the navy lace shorts in this outfit!  They look really nice with a plain white button-up oxford.

Lastly, this outfit is the most simple and casual out of all of them, but there is something so great about denim shorts and a striped top.  This can defiantly be dressed up with sandals and some jewelry.

What does your usual first day of school outfit entail?

Sparkle

Sequins and glitter have always been something that I've gravitated towards ever since I could remember.    I mean what girly-girl doesn't love some sparkle?
I've recently scored these Steve Madden flats at Nordstrom during the anniversary sale for about 40% off!
My friends always ask me how I could wear such sparkly shoes.  I do have to admit, I own a few (okay more then a few) pairs of glittery shoes.  From sneakers to heels, I just love the effect a sparkly shoe can add to an outfit!
I don't think sparkly shoes are that hard to wear, especially in a subtle color like black.
The key is to wear them with a solid, simple outfit.
But for those of you who are a little hesitant, here a few fall outfits (because there are literally like three more weeks before summer ends ) I would wear with sparkly shoes!

Outfit 1 - This outfit is super simple and can be worn as casual during the day and dressed up at night.  Black and white is a timeless pairing.
Shop!
Necklace - Bauble Bar
Bottoms - Forever 21
Shoes - Nordstrom

Outfit 2 - This outfit is perfect for a night out!  I love how the super fun wedges look with a more structured blazer.  And the color of these pants are beautiful - jewel tones are really in for fall!
Shop!
Jacket - Zara
Bottoms - J.Crew

Outfit 3 - This outfit is extremely casual and perfect for those days when you don't really feel like dressing up.  It's also really comfy - jeggings and a cable knit sweater paired with a large scarf.  If I had $500 to splurge on sneakers, I would buy these Jimmy Choo high tops in a heartbeat.
Shop!
Top - 6pm.com
Scarf - Zappos.com
Bottoms - Bloomingdales
Shoes - Net-A-Porter

Outfit 4 - Lastly, I don't really wear boat shoes in the fall/winter.  However I feel that these sparkly Sperry's can be an exception.  I love how these silver glitter shoes go with the cranberry chords and oversized gray sweater.

Bottoms - J.Crew

How do you feel about glittery shoes?

Kate Middleton's Gold Metal Worthy Olympic Looks

Kate Middleton has become a huge style icon since her marriage to Prince William.  She always seems to look effortlessly chic and put-together.
I have particularly been loving her looks for the Olympics these past few days.  She pulls off both sophisticated and casual wear so well.
Oh the things I would do to be a princess.
Here are a few of my favorite outfits that she has worn this past week!

Thursday July 26th
I love how simple and casual this outfit is.  Kate wore a white collared Adidas polo with cobalt blue Zara jeans and Stuart Weitzman cork wedges.  A perfect way to start the Olympic games!

Friday July 27th
{photo}
Kate wore a Christopher Kane coatdress for the opening ceremony and to the Buckingham Palace reception.  I love how she can go from jeans and a tee to looking like a Princess!

Monday July 30th
Kate joined the royal family to watch Zara Phillips, the Queen's granddaughter, in the equestrian cross country event.  My favorite part of her outfit are her Stuart Weitzman cork wedges - they are adorable!  She was seen wearing these at the Torch Relay event on Friday as well.

Kate wore this grey Roksanda Illinic dress in attendance to the U.K.'s Creative Industries Reception.  The one thing I love about Kate is that she isn't afraid to wear the same thing twice.  She wore this dress last summer when she visited the US!

What do you think of Kate's Olympic games style?

Road Trip

One of my favorite things about summer is spending time with family and friends.  Road trips often are the highlights of my summer spent in the car, singing along to the radio and taking pictures.  With less than four weeks left of school until summer vacation, I'm already planning all the trips I want to take!  Road Trips are fun because you can easily hop in a car and drive for the weekend, stopping in little shops and cozy restaurants.  Here are a few outfits I would wear when taking a road trip.

Outfit 1:  I'm obsessed with neon for this spring/summer season.  These chino shorts from J.Crew are beyond comfortable and the top and earrings give off a nautical, preppy touch which I absolutely adore.

Dress - Tobi
Shoes - Steve Madden
Fedora - Charlotte Russe

Outfit 3:  This outfit is really plain and simple, so I had to add some print!  I love this head wrap headband from Forever 21 and can't get enough of these leopard earrings from Kate Spade.

Sandals - Tory Burch

Clock-wise: Alexa Chung, Hillary Kerr, Kate Moss, Kelly Osborne at Cochella 2011

Coachella is probably the biggest music festival of the year.  It's also a huge fashion hotspot.  I always have admired the 'Coachella style' thats plastered all over fashion blogs about this time of year.  It's so interesting how some people put together outfits and mix and match pieces.  I'm really looking forward to see what everyone is going to wear this year!  So in the spirit of the festival, I thought I would share a little inspiration with some outfits!

Outfit 1 - This Coachella look is more safe played. One that can easily be pulled off by anyone.  I love the color of the crochet flats!  They are super girly and add a pop of color to the outfit!
Shop -
 Top: Lulus.com
Shorts: Top Shop
Necklace: Forever 21

Outfit 2 - This outfit features one trend that I really wish I could pull off - wide leg pants!  They look so effortless and cool paired with a wide brimmed hat and fringed crop-top.
Shop -
Pants: Forever 21
Bracelet: Charlotte Russe
Ring: Top Shop
Sandals: Amazon.com

Outfit 3 - I absolutely love each of these pieces separately.  Together I think they create an outfit that is so 'Coachella'.  The lace dress is perfect for those hot days and the cute hunters are just what are needed for walking in the dirt.
